No. Stickies on the Mac has no sync setting and there is no Stickies app for iPhone. If sync is what you need, that is what TackNote is built for: your notes sync between your Macs and with a Windows PC through a folder you already sync, notes you make on your iPhone sync to your Mac, and notes on web pages can also sync through iCloud. Your notes travel encrypted through your own iCloud or your own folder, and we run no servers to do it.
You are not the only one asking. On Apple's own support forum, the question "Can Stickies be sync'd to iPhone?" has 99 "Me too" votes, no replies, and has been closed since it was posted in December 2020. Below we explain what Stickies can and cannot do, how to move your stickies to your phone today, and exactly which directions TackNote syncs in, including the one it does not.
Every answer is listed in Which one fits you below.
Why Stickies does not sync
Stickies is a Mac app built for one desktop. Apple's Stickies User Guide describes notes that appear on your desktop whenever the Stickies app on your Mac is open, and nothing in it mentions iCloud or a sync setting. The same forum also has a thread asking to share Stickies across three Macs.
The guide's route to your other devices is a different app. It says you can export all your notes from Stickies into Notes, "where you can write and organize notes in a single window and see your notes on all your Apple devices." Your notes also remain in Stickies after the export.
That export is a copy made at that moment, not a live link between the two apps. To keep your phone up to date, the notes have to live in an app that syncs.
How to get your Stickies onto your iPhone today
This uses only Apple's apps and costs nothing:
- In Stickies on your Mac, choose File > Export All to Notes, then click Export All. Apple says they appear in Notes in an Imported Notes folder, with a subfolder for each color of note (Notes User Guide).
- On the Mac, turn on iCloud for Notes: Apple menu > System Settings, click your name, click iCloud, and turn on Sync this Mac for Notes.
- On the iPhone, go to Settings > your name > iCloud, tap See All, tap Notes, and turn on syncing. Apple's steps for both are in Set up iCloud for Notes, which also says you can open your notes on iCloud.com.
From then on, write the notes you want to carry in Notes instead of Stickies. The trade-off is that a note in Notes is a page in a window, not a note on your desktop. We compared the two ways of working in Apple Notes vs sticky notes on the Mac.
Mac and iPhone sticky notes compared

| Notes stuck to a Mac window or file | No | Not a feature | Travel to your other Macs by folder sync |
| With a Windows PC | No | In a web browser, on iCloud.com | Yes, through a folder you already sync |
| Where a note sits on the Mac | On your desktop | In the Notes window | Beside the window, tab, document or folder it is about |
How TackNote syncs your sticky notes
TackNote is a sticky notes app whose notes attach to the work they belong to: an app, a window, a browser tab, a document or a Finder folder. It syncs your notes across your devices through your own iCloud or your own folder, so they are where you need them. Here is how each kind of note travels.
Between your Macs: every note
In TackNote's Settings on each Mac, choose Sync with Windows through a Folder (it works between Macs too) and pick the same folder in something you already use to sync files, such as iCloud Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive or Google Drive. Every note that is not private travels between your Macs, sealed with a passphrase you choose, so the folder only ever holds encrypted files. One license covers up to three computers.
Notes pinned to a web page, through iCloud
In TackNote's Settings, turn on the iCloud option to sync web notes across your Macs, and notes pinned to a web page sync to your other Macs signed in to the same iCloud account, end to end encrypted. A web page has the same address on every Mac, so the note finds its page again. Notes in a private folder never leave the Mac they were written on. We run no servers for this.
From your iPhone to your Mac: yes, starting this month
TackNote for iPhone is coming this month (October 2026). Once it is on your phone, turn on the switch to sync with your Mac in the iPhone app's settings, and turn on iCloud sync in TackNote's Settings on the Mac (the same option as above), using the same iCloud account on both. Your Mac needs TackNote 1.4 or later.
A note from your phone arrives on your Mac's TackBoard, in a folder called From phone, and waits there. It is not stuck to anything until you stick it somewhere yourself. Text, checklists, pictures, voice recordings and video come with it, and it travels encrypted through your own iCloud account. The iPhone app is separate from TackNote for Mac, which you buy on its own.
Private notes stay private
A note you mark private never leaves the Mac it was written on, by iCloud or by folder. Everything else can travel.
With a Windows PC
Your Mac and a Windows PC can share TackNote notes through a folder you already sync between them, such as one in iCloud Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox or Google Drive. Everything TackNote keeps in that folder is encrypted with a passphrase you choose. One license covers up to three computers.

- You jot notes on your iPhone and act on them at your Mac. TackNote fits: notes from the phone sync to your TackBoard and wait until you stick them to the work they are about. TackNote for iPhone arrives this month.
- You want sticky notes next to your work on the Mac, and synced. TackNote: notes on web pages follow you between Macs, and phone notes come to your Mac.
- You want notes on web pages to follow you between Macs. TackNote syncs web-page notes across your Macs through iCloud, end to end encrypted.
- You use a Mac and a Windows PC. TackNote syncs between them through a shared folder. If you only need plain notes, Apple Notes also opens in a web browser on iCloud.com.
- You want plain notes in one window on every device, nothing tied to your work. Apple Notes is free, built in, and does that well.
Bringing your Stickies into TackNote
If you move to TackNote on the Mac, you do not have to retype anything. TackNote can import your Apple Stickies, along with Apple Notes, Evernote exports, and Markdown or plain text files. Reading another app's notes can need Full Disk Access in System Settings.
If your stickies have gone missing rather than just stuck on one Mac, start with finding old Stickies lost after a restart. For the wider picture of where Stickies falls short, see the problem with Apple Stickies, and to compare every option, our guide to the best sticky notes app for Mac.
